As has become tradition, we spent our Independence Day at Todd's mom's house. She always throws an all day party. Our friends, the Skeens joined us for the pool party, pot luck, and fireworks. Our friends, the Jenks, also joined us for the fireworks. A lot of friends and family of our family members came as well. It makes the party so fun! Poor Todd forgot to put on sunscreen. He spent all day in the sun and 5 days later, his shoulders are still lobster red :( Not so fun trying to sleep that night for him... It was pretty hot out. I hid in the shade most of the time. I brought a basket of nail polish and painted toe nails for a while and bounced around chatting with everyone until I realized the day was almost over and I hadn't taken any pictures! All but the fireworks pictures were taken within a half an hour or so, but they sum up the majority of the day :) It was a fun and very relaxing day. We topped off the night singing America the Beautiful with the crowd who had gathered for the firework show, put on by the brothers who were present: Kris, Todd, Adam, and Billy.

For fireworks, the kids all took turns with 3 adults lighting their kiddie fireworks. They stood in this little line very politely waiting for each turn.

Good times! Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July! Freedom is a blessing I can't imagine living without. Here's to praying the upcoming elections yield a better candidate than who is presently in there eroding our freedoms with seemingly every decision made.

Looks like a great 4th! I love that you guys had your own firework show. And here, here about Obama! I was ready 4 years ago to have someone replace him.......
