The siding and fascia are up.
The arches are framed- they have been done for a while and I keep forgetting to take a picture of them.
The shadow boxes are in (the little arched indentions) and sheet rock has begun!
Actually, right now the sheet rock is almost completely done! Here they are wrapping the rounded wall. For anyone who didn't know or wondered, they use thinner sheet rock than normal for curved walls. Quarter inch sheet rock is far more bendable. They use two layers of it to make it the thickness of regular sheet rock so that it lines back up perfectly with normal sheet rock where it meets up with it on a flat wall. Here they are doing the first layer.
The shingles came in and they started putting them up yesterday.
We got really lucky with these shingles. I had picked out a typical black shingle, which they had in stock, popular choice. Then I found a more brownish grey single I liked better. I changed the order and they found that shingle color in higher quality shingles (we were getting 40 yr., but they found life-time rated) for the exact same price! Made me wonder what we can save by asking the building supply companies what they happen to have in overstock or on sale??? I was super excited about the shingles!
So a lot has been going on there. They are trying to get as much done as possible in this fantastic weather we've been having. Especially getting the roof up quickly before any rain comes, having begun the sheet rock inside. The painters will begin painting the exterior on Monday.
