Ashton is FIVE! He has long awaited this point in his life because we've told him all along that he has to take naps until he is five. I was a little worried this joyous landmark for him would be the start of tougher times for mom, but it's been an easy transition. He probably only slept during nap time half of the time before- more of a quiet time. So he's still quiet, giving Lainey the chance for a nap. But he's happier being downstairs and enjoying a craft/coloring/or watching a cartoon. So far not much to report on him behaving in any way sleep deprived :)
I love this little guy.
Ashton is so full of joy, exploration, energy. He asks many many questions. He says the funniest things all the time- the "one-liner" of the family. He doesn't like to be rushed or pushed. He has his own way of doing everything. Ashton has a VERY acute sense of smell. He can smell Lainey's poopy diapers from a mile away. And he will not let us rest for 3 silent seconds until we've taken care of it! Ashton plays really well with his sisters. He loves to color and create. He likes to play rough with his pals. He loves to hang out with his daddy doing whatever it is he might do. He especially likes to work out with Daddy and flex his muscles for all of us.
I asked Ashton a few little questions on his birthday:
1) Favorite color: Green
2) Favorite food: Chicken (with ketsup- always...
...and he often calls every meat "chicken". Even fish and steak. So we have a meat-lover.)
3) Favorite buddies: Camden (his cousin), Makya (his cousin)... Jayden (his cousin)
...and then he named several non-relative friends.
4) Favorite thing to do for fun: Play with remote control cars.
5) Favorite sport: Basketball
6) Favorite treat: Cookies
7) Favorite toy: DSi
8) Favorite things to do outside: Play tag/soccer/basketball
For Ashton's birthday, we took the family to "Jump Time" to celebrate. He'll have a birthday party with friends tomorrow. But at Jump time, we ate dinner and got a bunch of pictures of the kids having a "bouncing" good time. When we got home, we did cake and presents.
A visit later on from Grandma and Grandpa Stice.
Ashton LOVES this gun.
What a blessing it is to have our little boy. He brings a special spunk and spirit to our home and family. We love him so much. Happy Birthday, Ashton!
