Basketball Season

January was the start of Brielle's first year of basketball.  She and her cousin Makya were able to be on the same team and they had a lot of fun practicing at recess, seeing each other at team practices, and playing their games.

Brielle also enjoyed the sport largely in part because of the daddy-daughter time she got doing basketball drills with her dad at home.

Here the girls are playing a game.
(Brielle and her cousin, Makya, are the two girls in blue t-shirts.)

I had to snap this, Makya is supposed to be gaurding this girl (which she did a great job at), but she's almost twice Makya's height!  David gaurding Goliath!

Brielle is pretty fond of her pink ball and pink basketball shoes.

Their coach.

They were the two smallest girls on the team (youngest too), but they both worked hard!

They won every game!

Props from Daddy.

Meanwhile, twice a week we had Todd's City League Baketball games.  That, with his ward basketball tournaments going on and Brielle's Saturday games, and her practices twice a week, left me seeing basketballs when I closed my eyes :)  It was actually a lot of fun to watch as much as my little ones would allow.

Todd had stopped triathlon training and shifted more to doing CrossFit.  We got a lot of comments on how dramatically his game had improved.  He said he felt a huge difference in his hops, his speed, and his overall endurance.  Yeah for CrossFit!

Todd loves playing with these guys.  On their "off season" from City League, they play every Tuesday and Thursday night at the church after their kids go to bed.  Having played together for SO many years, they play very well together and they each have special strengths to offer.

In the end, they won the City League Championship!  Their second year as champions!
Go Team Total Wellness!
