Todd and I went to Boise to find a good selection of Lego's at Toys 'R Us for this guy's birthday. While we were there, we saw this Micky Waffle Maker and instantaneously both said he had to have it. Ashton makes breakfast for everyone, or at least himself, ALL THE TIME. He makes pancakes, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, .... that's about it. But he has a pretty competent little chef!
We let him open that gift first thing in the morning on his birthday. We didn't make him make his own birthday breakfast, we made it for him. But he and all the kids thought it was pretty cool. It comes with sticks to make the waffles on and use to dip the small waffles into a dish of syrup.
Funny faces....
Snacking on the Apple Jacks we had also gotten him, while waiting for the waffles. I normally buy really boring cereal so this is a treat to him.
After his Christmas experience of Lego's saving the day, we got him that. A few different contraptions. He LOVES Lego's. They were all put together by a couple of days later.
Brielle and Lainey went in on an art kit for Ashton because they wanted him to have one and stop asking to use theirs! He was happy have it!
Ashton is one precious little boy. I love my son. I am grateful God gave me a mini-Todd :). He just cracks us up every day. He dances randomly and SUPER goofy. He has a vast array of facial expressions in his "bag". He's so smart. I used to imagine that someday I'd be like my cute grandma that needed her adult grandchildren to help her turn on her computer and open things up just to send an email. Only... in way too many ways, this is already me and that's my 7-year-old being my guide. He just speaks the language of new technology or any technology, and fluently. Gotta watch this guy. He's incredibly bright in school. He blows me away to see how fast and effortlessly he excels. Nothing can stop this kid.
As of late, Ashton has been busy with his first basketball season which recently ended (he loved it), piano, gymnastics- a cool class just for boys, and is dying to start up guitar lessons here shortly. The teacher required him to be 7 or 8 and suggested taking piano first to make it easier. So we've followed that plan so far. He also played soccer this past year and will play again this Spring. He is incredibly natural at math, and also a great reader. I always thought it was normal to be good at one or the other but he's top in his class in both. He likes making movies and making music on various kid web sites on the computer. He also likes playing educational games on the computer. He really likes running. Sports too, but at school they started a punch card incentive for how many laps around the playground the kids would walk/run. Ashton had one of the highest punch cards in the school as a 1st grader! He and his buddies would just run and and run and run, all smiles.
Ashton loves to be with his Daddy. Wants to be just like him. He is currently Todd's "Assistant Coach" for Brielle's basketball team. He loves helping out and feeling important, but most importantly, being with Dad. He always looks forward to their father/son hair cut outing to Great Clips. He always rides home from church in the "boys' truck" with Dad since we have to drive separate cars to church for our callings, and then we race home :). He loves watching Dad pass levels on his video games and watching movies with Dad down in the basement. And loves working out with his dad. This kid has a raging 6-pack!!!
We love our Ashton!!!
