Carving our pumpkins the day before Halloween.
Lainey and Ashton wanted to taste it...
They swore it tasted good.
Class Halloween parties.
I had fun putting several things together to make her a colorful genie costume.
Brielle was a fox- playing off her hair. I also made her costume- even had to size down a women's Texas Longhorn t-shirt as it was the only rust colored shirt I could find on the internet. The fur looked super real, but it was not. I like things to look authentic but I'm not that crazy.
Ashton was a ninja. I did not make his costume. We almost did Robin Hood (the manly version- no tights) but it was going to take more time to make than any of their costumes and I ran out of time. Todd did make his bandana out of the mask that came with it- no masks allowed at the trunk-or-treat.
This year was a very exciting Halloween for me. My good friend in Spokane did a Thriller flash mob a couple years ago and I thought it sounded SO fun. I've built up the nerve over the last two Halloweens and this year I put a group together to perform it. My good friend, Maurny was a dancer/cheerleader and until recently was the cheer coach for our high school. So I asked her to be our dance instructor and she did a fabulous job. I enjoyed seeing her in action both in dance and teaching. So talented! You don't always get to see some of your friends' talents if it was something they did in high school or college but don't really have an avenue to show it anymore.
We all used a YouTube video to learn the dance at home and then had 4 practices where Maurny went over it with us. We ultimately videoed her and followed that video to make sure we were completely in synch.
At the trunk or treat, Todd used the stake sounds system to d.j. the event with fun Halloween songs so no one would suspect there being a louds sound system set up. When the Monster Mash song came on, that was everyone's cue to be ready for the Michael Jackson Thriller song to come next. Then one by one we joined in dancing for a mix of the songs basically playing twice (like the music video). IT. WAS. AWESOME. The crowd was shocked. The song playing as long as it did gave people the opportunity to congregate and see it. It was such a hit they asked for an encore at the end of the trunk or treat. We ladies had way too much fun! Made my kids proud, anyway!
The sister missionaries I work with in my ward missionary calling.
Lainey with her cute foxy cousin. Her mom made her costume too. Ashton gave them the idea because she is also a red head. And then Brielle wanted to join her too.
Our flash mob, minus a couple ladies who had left.
Brielle and her buddy the next day, headed to the school Halloween carnival.
