Mann's Creek

We took the family to Mann's Creek on Saturday to go 4-wheeling and have a picnic.  We were shocked at how much flooding there is in the rivers and creeks en route.  The Snake River is covering many farmers' fields and is just massively wide.  I guess we've already had more rain this Spring than we normally do in a whole year.  The creek, is huge compared to its normal "trickle" size.  And the forest is much more lush than normal.  The hillsides are florescent green.  I love it!  It is more reminescent of home in AK than ever before.

We found a camp site in "Just Right" campground area along Mann's Creek and settled in for a picnic.  We were glad we didn't waste much time looking for a camp site beyond that one because, after taking the 4-wheeler further down the road, we saw that nearly all of the other camp sites beyond ours were flooded under water.

Ours was pretty muddy but it worked fine.

We gave the kids a bunch of turns riding.

The rest of the time, Lainey entertained herself with a plethera of Cheetos in her stroller so we wouldn't have to worry about keeping her from the river.  She was pretty happy about it because she loves anything naughty and snacky and would be happy for hours eating it.  I don't normally feed my kids food like that.  But I figure Cheetos are better for her health than drowning...

It was difficult to get a fire going because
all the firewood was damp.
But Todd got it up and going for roasting.

We did S'mores, which are always a hit. It was Ashton's first time eating them since the only time we went camping last year was too hot to even build a fire. He was impressed! (Gotta love the helmet hair.)

It was a relaxing Saturday and fun was had by all!
