We left Thursday evening after Todd got home from work. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our cabin. It looked alright in the tiny pictures on the internet, but it was beautiful. Just a perfect place to relax.
Friday we woke up to a day of mostly rain, but it actually worked out perfect. Without the rain, we'd have felt guilty staying in the cabin all day, but it just drew us in and and we wanted to enjoy it for a while. In the basement we discovered a projector in a closet and a room with surround sound speakers. Todd hooked it up and sure enough, it worked as a home theater! The kids pulled up banana chairs and watched a cartoon, home theater style.
(My flash ruined the projector picture.)
We played games. We napped.
We cooked fajitas and enjoyed the
view of the forest from the dining room.
When the rain died down Todd went for a jog
while Brielle rode her bike.
We had breakfast for dinner at the locally famed Pancake House. I'd been craving one of their giant plate-sized cinamon rolls all year!
Our friends, the Davis' joined us that evening. Our kids were SO excited to have their buddies to play with. We enjoyed a fun social evening over home made salsa and some cobbler.
The next day the weather was beautiful. We all went swimming in the community pool and soaked in the hot tub. We went for jogs/walks. Even got a little 4-wheeling in. We went to town and got milkshakes from My Father's Place, which we sipped on the beach of Payette Lake while the kids played in the sand. We barbequed steaks and corn on the cob, made my first potato salad (I know, I'm a late bloomin' potato salad maker...), and watched a movie until we headed to bed. It was tons of fun having our friends with us. Our friends, the Davis' joined us that evening. Our kids were SO excited to have their buddies to play with. Ashton's not-so-welcomed wet hug.
"Mom, I'm an elephant!"
Lainey polished up her skills climbing stairs on
this trip. We don't have any at home so she
takes all the practice she can get.
Dancing to Todd's iPod music.
The Davis' left early the next morning. We were staying until later that evening, so after nap time Todd and I took the kids fishing. We didn't catch anything before our patience ran out. It got pretty hot to sit there too long. But the kids seemed to like it anyway and are still asking to go fishing again. They saw someone else catch a fish, maybe that's why.
It was a private pond stocked with 1500 fish per
week and still no luck! This is us treking back
out of the long private fenced path.
After fishing, we had lunch, went on a family 4-wheeling ride, packed up, loaded up the 4-wheelers, locked up the cabin, and headed home. We had a fantastic time and were very grateful to have been able to get away and have some fun.
