So I mentioned that we sold our camper trailer in an earlier post. We had found a motorhome for such an incredible deal, we decided to buy it. That's why we chose to sell the trailer. We sold it super fast! We listed it at 8:00 at night, had many calls immediately following, and it was sold by about 10:00 the next morning for our asking price in CASH. That never happens to us. It was awesome.
We had been in the market, casually, looking for a used motor home. We stopped at a dealership in Meridian looking around and saw last year's model, still new, being sold at a sale price that looked like a really good deal, trying to get it off the lot to be able to bring in more 2015's. We left, really liking it, but still not willing to pay that much... new or not.
We went to dinner before going home and while there, we looked on our phones for comparable deals on the same motor home year, brand, and style. Compared to most, it was a good deal or similar to what other dealers were marking theirs down to. But there was one that blew it out of the water newly listed in our search findings. It was nearly marked half off! (For the same make and year. New.) It was after hours so Todd waited until first things the next morning to call on it. Sure enough, they had just marked it that low, expecting it to sell that day (Saturday) that Todd was calling on when the weekend crowds came in. It had sat on their lot longer than any other of it's brand in all of that dealership's locations across the country and corporate had given them permission to mark it that low- at a massive loss to them for their cost of getting it in the first place. It was located in Draper, Utah. Very close to where my brother, Devan lives. And we would be there for reunions in only a few short days.
We were the first to call on it- the second they opened. We put put some money down to hold it until we could get down there.
We bought it! We've called many other dealers to see if they would price match and they all either laughed at us, treated us like we knew nothing and were mistaking it for some other smaller or lesser quality RV, or thought we were legitimately lying. Weeks later, we've still been looking through classifieds to see if it's a seasonal trend that others would follow but, still, nothing has even come close to the deal we got. It was literally the best deal in the country! The dealer showed us how much money they lost- something he said he'd never done before. It was a steal.
So we're very happy. If we don't like it or don't use it enough, we can make money off of it!f But I'm sure we'll use it. I'm already dreaming up a trip next summer driving up the Al-Can Highway to stay a longer stay with my family than normal and tour around my old home state, Alaska, and see my brother, Marty home from his mission. We planned a weekend back to Ketchum. And we're headed to McCall for a weekend with Todd's brothers and their families. One of his brothers also owns a Motor home. We want to visit Todd's grandam in Nebraska who I've never met and there isn't a place to stay with her or in her town if we did. It's just going to be a very ideal way to do the traveling goals we have for the next long while. We're so excited!
The kids couldn't wait so they spent the night in it at home.
